DAVE & BUSTERS — 28-year-old Harold Foster prides himself on being the perfect boyfriend. He goes out of his way whenever he can to let his girlfriend (29-year-old Margret Robin) know just how special she is to him. But as Margret found out Friday, while the couple was spending an evening at Dave & Busters. There are some tropes that even Harold can’t live up to. Harold Elaborated to press who were waiting patiently in line for Jurassic Park Arcade.
“THE CLAW HAS GOT TO BE RIGGED DAMIT. Like you think ok, the arcade needs to make money. I’m a reasonable guy, I understand. But I blew over $300 trying to win my girlfriend the Teddy Bear in the claw machine out front, and I’m beginning to think it’s impossible.”
After what could loosely be described as a magical evening, spent shooting Ski ball and playing Giant Pac Man. Harold and Margret were ready to call it a night. After one last 8 minute song on Dance Dance Revolution the couple made their way towards the exit, where something caught Margret’s eye.
“There was one claw machine right by the entrance. It had some pretty incredible stuff in it. A fake watch, a $10 Itunes giftcard, nearly twenty different subspecies of Minion. But the best prize of all was this one adorable little Teddy Bear right in the center. Normally I wouldn’t ask Harold to do something like this for me. But it was the cutest thing I’d ever seen and I’m no good at claw machines.”
Margaret asked Haorld to win the bear on her behalf. A request to which Harold gleefully agreed. But after his first five attempts. Harold’s optimistic mood began to shift.
“It’s $3 a play. By no means a cheap game. But I planned everything out just right and I’m usually able to execute under pressure. I estimated I could win the bear in no more than 5 plays. What a fool I was. Now here we are nearly 90 games later still bearless. I look like an idiot. I need this goddamn bear! I already told the manger, If I can't win this bear I may kill myself."
At press time, Dave & Busters has been closed for hours. After multiple employees attempted to remove Harold from the claw machine to no avial. The manager on duty decided it was best he be left there overnight. Margret has been begging Harold to just forget about it and go home. But like any good man Harold is physically unable to quit.
