For many toddlers, it can be hard to get anything done when a parent is in the house. Instead of spending their time high-fiving walls, toddlers are finding themselves bogged down by the

whims of their moms. Says Lysander, age 3:

“I just want to take a bunch of mancala beads and arrange them into different patterns on the

floor. I want to open and close the silverware drawer to the tune of “When the Saints Go

Marching In.” But she keeps trying to get me to eat a bowl of pasta with red sauce and

vegetables. There’s only so much work I can do when I’m being constantly interrupted.”

What’s a busy 3-year old to do?"

Many are turning to technology in order to capture the attention of their adults. But is it really ethical to allow moms so much screen time? We asked Lysander his opinion.

“Look, if you don’t have a mom, I don’t want to hear it. ‘Oh, I would never let my parent go on

their NYT app. I would never have my mom play Connections just to get a few moments to

myself.’ Zip it.”

“The New York Times is one of the only papers out there that provides mindless entertainment wrapped up in the guise of educational fun. They’re giving resources to toddlers everywhere who just want a moment away from their Montessori workbooks. If you’re serious about capturing the attention span of your parent, a subscription to NYT Games is worth every penny.”
